Number of fare dodgers in public transport decreased in January

Statistics of "Rīgas satiksmes" about ticket inspections in public transport in January 2015:

It is by 388 fare dodgers less than in December 2014, when 6770 passengers were fined for fare dodging in public transport.

Just to compare – there were 20604 ticket inspections in December 2014, which is by 1982 less than in January 2015.

In January 2015, the maximum number of passengers fined for fare dodging was on tram route No. 6 (519), and the minimum number (2) was on bus route No. 57.

"Rīgas satiksme" reminds that starting from February 20, 2015, the following fines will be applied to passengers by ticket inspectors for violation of the regular passenger transportation agreement, where passenger is using public transport without paying or without a ticket:

Offence

If the offender pays the fine to the ticket inspector in accordance with the fine receipt (paying the fine on the spot)

If a bill is drawn for the fine to be paid

(post-paid fine)

Fare evasion in accordance with sub-paragraph 13.1-13.4

(if the passenger does not present a ticket or a ticket together with a document confirming the right to reduced fare, or did not  observe the order of using tickets in public transport within the limits of overlapping routes). See details at www.rigassatiksme.lv

Pursuant to the regulations, those passengers who use public transport free of charge also have to register their trips. If the trip is not registered, they will have to pay the following fine as of February 20, 2015:

  Offence  If the offender pays the fine to the ticket inspector in accordance with the fine receipt (paying the fine on the spot)  If a bill is drawn for the fine to be paid

(post-paid fine)

Fare evasion according to paragraph 13.5 (if a passenger has a valid ticket for a certain period of time or route  (including reduced fare tickets), which has been authorised (registered) for the first trip, but is not authorised (registered) for this trip.
